Lawrence Yun, 2017
A close-up of magenta phanolosis or orchids. The name phanolopsis is derived from the Ancient Greek word “Phalaina” meaning a “kind of moth” and “opsis” meaning “having the appearance of”. These delicate flowers and buds emerge from the right of the watercolor composition. The stem is sustained by a thin, taut, red string, entering from above, twisting around the stem, continuing down, and out of the composition.
